Why is Bushwalking NSW making this change? For some years now,
Bushwalking NSW has been endeavouring to grow and improve our activities
and services for the benefit of bushwalkers in NSW and the ACT. Our new
website was a significant step along this path. We also changed our name,
and employed an Executive Officer. We have won our first government grant;
surveyed our members for your views; lobbied Government and land managers;
worked on our strategic plan and direction; improved our business systems,
procedures and practices; increased our number of volunteers; reached out
to key stakeholders; and continue to seek in-kind and financial support
from a range of sources.
Now is the time for us to address our community: the bushwalkers of NSW and
So many of our clubs and their members aren’t aware that Bushwalking NSW
exists, let alone knowing what we do. We only exist for our community:
bushwalkers, and we can only serve bushwalkers if they know we exist.
Moving to this new email system is an important step towards being able to
reach out to all bushwalkers in NSW and the ACT: so they know that we are
here, what we currently do, and what we hope to do to represent them and
We are seeking your involvement, and your club members’ involvement: to
spread the word and build a body of support for bushwalking.
As a united body, we can show government and private organisations just how
many people support and enjoy bushwalking. We can seek their funding and
support on this basis, and then deliver more services or benefits to
bushwalkers. We can mention your numbers when advocating for bushwalkers.
We can also connect with more bushwalkers that want to be involved with
what we are doing to support and improve bushwalking in NSW and the ACT.
What are the benefits again? This new announcement system is:
- is easier to read on all devices, including mobile
- shows us what you like to read about
- helps us to bring you better content in a variety of ways
We do hope you enjoy using the new system! It has only been possible with
our grateful thanks to the efforts of our wonderful volunteers - in
particular: Elicia O’Reilly, Alexandra Hipolito, Leonie Bell, Caro Ryan,
and Gel Abrahams.
How do I change what I receive? You can always change your preferences, ask
for more or less, and unsubscribe using the links at the bottom of every
Thanks again, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
